Marginally deformed Starobinsky gravity

چکیده
We show that quantum-induced marginal deformations of the Starobinsky gravitational action of the form R2(1−α), with R the Ricci scalar and α a positive parameter smaller than one half, can generate sizable primordial tensor modes. We also suggest natural microscopic sources of these corrections and demonstrate that they generally lead to a nonzero and positive α. Furthermore we argue, that within this framework, the scalar spectral index and tensor modes probe theories of grand unification including theories not testable at the electroweak scale.

Decoherence in Starobinsky Model
Starobinsky described an inflationary scenario in which quantum corrections to vacuum Einstein's equations drive the inflation. The quantum cos-mology of the model is studied by solving Wheeler-DeWitt equation. A connection between uncertainty requirement, randomness in initial states as well as curvature fluctuation is studied with a Schroedinger-type equation through a time parameter prescrip...
متن کاملInflationary Cosmology in Modified Gravity Theories
We review inflationary cosmology in modified gravity such as R gravity with its extensions in order to generalize the Starobinsky inflation model. In particular, we explore inflation realized by three kinds of effects: modification of gravity, the quantum anomaly, and the R term in loop quantum cosmology. It is explicitly demonstrated that in these inflationary models, the spectral index of sca...
متن کاملCosmology based on f(R) gravity admits 1 eV sterile neutrinos.
It is shown that the tension between recent neutrino oscillation experiments, favoring sterile neutrinos with masses of the order of 1 eV, and cosmological data which impose stringent constraints on neutrino masses from the free streaming suppression of density fluctuations, can be resolved in models of the present accelerated expansion of the Universe based on f(R) gravity.
متن کاملReconstruction of a scalar-tensor theory of gravity in an accelerating universe
The present acceleration of the Universe strongly indicated by recent observational data can be modeled in the scope of a scalar-tensor theory of gravity. We show that it is possible to determine the structure of this theory along with the present density of dustlike matter from two observable cosmological functions: the luminosity distance and the linear density perturbation in the dustlike ma...
متن کاملStructure formation and generalized second law of thermodynamics in some viable f(R)-gravity models
We investigate the growth of matter density perturbations as well as the generalized second law (GSL) of thermodynamics in the framework of f(R)-gravity. We consider a spatially flat FRW universe filled with the pressureless matter and radiation which is enclosed by the dynamical apparent horizon with the Hawking temperature. For some viable f(R) models containing the Starobinsky, Hu-Sawicki, Exp...
